Cost

The cost of attending AJ2010 varies depending on your age and where you are located (and thus traveling from!).

Location

Each state has a Contingent attending AJ2010 who charge an additional fee for communal equipment and transport to and from the event. In the majority of cases, you will be attending AJ2010 as part of a Contingent.

Age/Member type

Not only do prices vary depending on where you are from, but prices also change depending on which of the three ages brackets/Scout member types you fall under. The age brackets/Scout member types are:

  • Scouts (11-14 years of age)
  • Venturers, who attend as Junior Service Leaders (16-18 years of age)
  • Leaders & Rovers (18+ years of age)

Leaders, Rovers and Venturers all attend the Jamboree to help run the hundreds of Troop Camps, Bases, activities and services. Basically, they are the Jamboree – without them, the Jamboree would not be able to function. They are responsible for all the behind-the-scenes, unglamorous, grunt work that no one likes to do but must get done in order for the event to take place. Because they’re so busy with all the tasks that keep the Jamboree running as smoothly as it does, they don’t get to participate in all the great activities the Scouts get do. It is because of this, that Leaders, Rovers and Venturers have a reduced AJ2010 fee to compensate them for all their hard work.
