Chief Directors Welcome
It gives me great pleasure to welcome everyone to the 22nd Australian Jamboree AJ2010 to be held at Cataract Scout Park from January 4th to January 14th, 2010. The theme of the Jamboree is to challenge all attendees to “Test Your Limits”. What does this mean, well in our minds it seeks to motivate everyone to test themselves to see just how capable and resilient they are. We are providing programs at AJ2010 that will encourage you to go “Higher”, “Deeper”, “Faster”, “Further”, “Longer” and at the same time be “Stronger”, “Braver”, and of course be “Smarter”.
This Jamboree will strive to be a fantastic experience for young people and at the same time be a enjoyable experience for adults who attend to work and make things happen. We have developed activities that will be both physically and mentally challenging. Plans are under way to provide some unique entertainment experiences at the event and also an opportunity for visitors to take in the sights and sounds of Sydney.
There will be a full service Broadband Network all around Cataract Scout Park which will be extensively used to monitor activities and of course keep track of our young attendees. There will be full banking facilities on site with Westpac providing ATM’s and a full Bank Branch. Everyone should make sure they are able to carry out banking transactions through Westpac.
We can also advise the onsite activities at Cataract are being overhauled and where necessary upgraded. On Line applications are now available so make sure you apply now why wait if we know you are coming we can “Be Prepared” for you. I am very proud to lead a terrific team of Scouting people to put this event together. We are planning for 12,000 to attend so this is quite a task.
Here is some trivia for you to think about: Number of Youth Members 8,500, Number of Junior Service Leaders 500, Number of Adults and Leaders 3,000. Number of meals to be provided 360,000, litres of drinking water 250,000. I look forward to meeting you all in January 2010.
